Just wondering what is the max rpm's for a 93 evinrude 90 v4? when i engage the shifter it will engage the prop but it take almost half of WOT before it will give it gas. do i need to adjust the throttle cable or is that normal. i have a 93 glastron 17' and with me and my wife aprrox 400 lbs it reads 4000rpms and about 32 mph WOT.

Re: Throttle Cable

Nearly half the throttle control travel distance, sounds about right. Your WOT RPM's, way too low.

Take the airbox cover off and move the throttle control to WOT; the throttle valves should be horizontal (and not beyond). If they are, then your throttle is ending up in the right place.

Now, on the starboard side of the powerhead, find the throttle cam. When you advance the throttle, the cam should hit the roller right on the mark. If it does, then your throttle is starting in the right place. The image below is a 3-cyl, but your motor will have essentially the same parts.

If all that checks out ok, then you'll want to start looking at set-up (prop pitch, motor mounting height, weight & balance, etc.)
