Hi guys please excuse my lack of knowhow with this but im pretty stuck even to what to search for let alone find and repair as yet lol
okk here we go
50hp late 80's i think it was i will find the plate though and double check when i go to the boat, vro model fitted to a little 16 footer speedboat,
Last season had impeller etc done checked and serviced over ran well on the 4 outings it had put on plane with no probs
this time first go out i cant seem to get it to pick the boat up on the plane at all!
Had muffs on it running fine revs up without an issue when its in the water
it starts runs tickover fine
even pushes along fine but when u try to throttle on it picks up slightly then dies off
back to slow speeds, the engine just doesnt want to rev up when under load!
It doesnt keep revving at all just picks up for a split second then dies down.
I spoke to a marine engineer regarding this and he said was a bearing on the prop, but surely if it was a bearing slipping then the engine would continue to rev but not actually go anywhere?
Is this just me putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 or is that the case?
If the nylon bearing under the castle nut on prop were to be gone would the engine still rev up and run fast but not actually make the boat go anywhere
like a slipping clutch as such?
or would the engine just die down if this were to be the case?
with throttle right down on the controls the engine lunges then dies off and carys on like that every few second
pleeaseeeee could anyone have an idea what this is? is it a carb rebuild time?
Thanks in advance guys
Mike
