Ok guys! What have you used and rcommend to make a no skid durable floor covering? I want something that I can wash down with a pressure hose nozzle and scrub brush. It's a 1982 Grady White and floor has a lot of tiny little cracks in it and want to seal them with a slight flexable textured coating that can be applied with a roller. (GOT ANY PICS?) Thanks

Check out Durabak or Kiwi Grip. Members on here have used both with success.

Whatever you use, don't get too crazy with the pressure nozzle...light to medium pressure and a good scrub brush does the trick.

That's two for the Kiwi Grip. What kind of texture does it come out like? Your deck really looks nice from the pictures.

The nice thing about that product is that YOU decide on the type of texture you want, by applying it thick or thin and the amount of pressure you apply on the roller, on mine it is just rough enough so I wont slip, took 3qtr to do my boat . Another thing that I like about KG is nothing stains it, wine, gas, oil, blood , nothing

Everytime I look at your boat I really like how nice the floor came out. I'm guessing that you taped the edges so it came out like that with borders. The cream color is also very appealing. Nice work!

Thanks :)
Wanted to keep the water runs and at the same time was able to do it in section. You can also have custom color, you can get the white KG and take it to your local paint store and have them tint it the color you want

I'm ready to do the floor decks. She runs sooooo sweet now. Does Kiwi Grip wash down easily? Also how about dirt caking up on it? I'm pretty sure I'm going to use the creme Kiwi Grip. Ron (AKA LX Kid)

Ron, good move. I fish a lot with worms, the dirt from it can be really messy after a day of fishing, last time out, came back home and it started to rain, 5 minutes later my deck was clean  just from the rain. Sometimes a week will go by before I decide to clean my boat , I just hose it down and voila!!

Make sure to use a notched spreader to evenly spread KG with the notch no higher then 1/8 of an inch

Make sure to practice on a peace of wood for the desire grip you want

Make sure to take the masking tape off as soon as possible, you can practice that on that peace of wood

At the end of rolling KG on, don't apply to much pressure on the roller, let it float on

If you decide to do it in steps, order an extra roller(they're cheap), because if you wash it often it will start falling apart (the roller)

Don't be rushed, do it in steps, specially if you're taping

Check this video out and you're good to go

Oh!! and I don't work for that company ;) But if I had the cash I would buy it:cool:

Re: Boat Deck Floor Coating Recomendations

A little late to the conversation, but I put a vote in for KiwiGrip. I did the whole interior of my boat with it. I used it (cut 20% with tap water) for the sides, vertical surfaces, and edges that I wanted to keep smooth, which I applied with a foam roller (2 coats) and the rest I did using a notched trowel and the texture roller to put on a pretty aggressive non-stick finish. Although it is pretty aggressive, it feels fine with bare feet and is surprisingly easy to clean.

Some things to be careful of is that it does not stick will to glossy finishes so sand well, it does not stick well to silicone calk (I used boatlife life-calk and primed these areas with the 20% cut Kiwigrip mixture. Also, the "grey" is really much more of an oyster white...not too much gray. You can tint it with regular paint tints pretty easily.

I used about 5 quarts, but it is applied thick the deck.
