I have several of these old boat plans and I am thinking about building one of the runabouts. Has anyone here had any experiance with building from these plans? They seem to be well thought out and designed even though they are 60+ years old.

I have the 'Malahini' plans from Glen-L, I just don't have the time to build it; buy I will...
Go to the Glen-L website and talk to the boat builders in the forum there, you'll get all the answers to your questions.

I've never seen those particular plans- Being 60 years old isn't necessarily a drawback- I've built boats from books written in the '20s before!

Some more 'modern' plans have been adapted to modern materials, like epoxy and fiberglass. There are some excellent plans out there designed for the first timer, using easy to find materials and basic tools... Or, you can get plans for just about any boat you could want from a place like Glen-L.... It's all what you want to spend, and how confident you are in your woodworking skills.

I'm looking for plans from a Nov. 1955 issue of Popular Mechanic. Specifically for a 8' pram dinghy from Douglas Fir Plywood Assn. Can anyone please help me?

Not sure what you want the help with? Are you asking if the plans are sound? Or is this somthing easily built? I think we need a bit more detailed question,

Or are you asking "Where can I get ahold of these plans" http://www.popularmechanics.com/ You might can order old issues right from Popular Mechanics site.

Don't you think that after a year and a half he has what he needed, BM? Please read and respect our rules.

Here is rule #12 for reference:please do not post to threads that have been inactive for more than 3 months UN-LESS you are the original poster. We have very active forums and any thread that remains inactive for that long should be considered "dead". It is especially confusing when there is an entirely new question posted to an old thread. This is considered a hijack. Please start a new thread of your own.
