The steering on my current project boat is stiff and hard to turn back and forth. I have disconnected it from the outboard and the outboard moves freely so I know it in the steering cable or rack.
My last boat had the drum type steering and I remove the inner cable, cleaned it with a wire brush, relubed, and reinstalled and that fixed the problem.
My question is:
Is the rack type steering much the same in that it has an inner cable that can be removed and cleaned? I have not torn into the rack as of yet and need to also know if it comes apart much the same as a drum tyep?
