As some of you know, I blew my lower unit and the teardown revealed that the housing is toast. Found a good used one but need to know if it will bolt up without mods.

Will a 94 Johnson 150 GT lower unit fit on a 93 Johnson 150 Fast Strike GLETR. I don't know the model of the GT unfortunately but he says it's 20" shaft so I'm half way there.

Looking at the 93 and 94 sales brochures, I don't show a GT...only the fast strike, so this guy might just have the name wrong.

Thanks for all your help so far...any input here is appreciated before I go pay for this thing.

I'm still looking and can't find a 150 GT in 1994...only the fastrike so I'm guessing it will work.

I'm leaving in about an hour...if anyone can help I would REALLY appreciate it.

Get the model and serial number off the 1994 so called (GT 150) to be sure what you are buying. I think 1990-91 was the last GT - XP crossflow engines. At anyrate, you need to know what he selling and if you are willing to buy.

Good luck.

Re: 150 GT and 150 Fast Strike compatible?

Thanks...Unfortunately, I can't get the numbers until I arrive. He's positive it's a 94 and a 150, but the GT is throwing me off. I don't think it's possible to have a GT in 94.

If I can confirm that all 94 150 (v6) lower unit would fit my 93 150 fast strike, then I'm good. Per the post above, I don't think they made anything else after 91.

It comes down to the shaft, 1 piece vs 2. I need the two piece but that's tough to tell unless you take it apart, which I cannot do on site.

Hope this help to identify the motor as a 1994 whatever.

Thanks...printed for reference.

If anyone else can add $.02, please do. I'll have the wife checking this post while I'm on the road.

Thanks again for all of your help!!!!! Hopefully I'll be back on the water in just a few days. My little boy keeps asking why I broke my boat. Good question, kid.

A 150 Fast Strike is a 60 degree V6 looper, a 150 GT is a V6 crossflow. The gearcases will interchange but you'll have to make sure the driveshaft height is correct for the motor it's going on.

Did they make a crossflow in 94?

Yes, there was a crossflow in 94 but it was a V4. All 150 Fast Strikes are 60 degree V6 loopers. The 94 150s were 60 degree loopers.
