Lone Star Boat Manufacturer

I've recently aquired a fiberglass boat and trailer along with an 18 hp Evinrude motor. The name plate on the trailer states "Lone Star" Boat Manufacturing Co. I'd like to find out more about the trailer (serial number, year it was made and possibly the weight) and the boat (assuming it's from the same manufacturer). Is there someone out there who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
You won't find a whole lot of information about the Lonestars but if you go to http://www.fiberglassics.com/library/Lone_Star you will find the best I think anywhere. There are also some forums somewhere specifically for the LS boats but I don't know where my links are anymore, I still have a 18' Reliant I just dropped in the backyard to use the trailer for my 15' MFG I am restoring.

The forums I used to get on ??? were very helpful also, a few reasons the 18' sits is it is too big for me to pull with my little underpowered S10 and also i don't have control box with proper cable length to change over the 65hp stinger johnson to the boat, I blew the original homelite 4 stroke that came with the boat and lost interest.

I had an 18' Lone Star Chesapeake cuddy cabin many years ago, it belonged to my in-laws and I learned to slalom ski behind it. It had a 100hp Johnson V4 OB on it without trim and tilt, I sure don't miss pulling that motor up by hand.

I had a '54 with a 35HP Evinrude Lark on it. She sat on a Gator trailer, kinda the forerunner to Magi-Tilt. Trailer was made in Jax, Lonester sold them as a package.

I just picked up a 1966 Lone Star "Cruise Liner III" 24 foot - nice old cruiser!

I has a Chrysler Slant Six marine and a Volvo outdrive. If they are anything like the automotive Slant Six, it should be indestructible!
