Ok guys, here is the boat I have received from my grandparents passing away. It is all original except the impeller pump in the lower unit. It was locked solid from sitting so long. My grandparents bought it new in 74 and last took it out in 85. Garage kept all but 1 year. Here is the link to the pics, click once for larger image and a second time for full screen. You can still see the shine in full screen. All I have done is the impeller pump, new gas/oil mix and wash it, no wax. LMK what ya think http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii137/rowley5383/1974 DUO Ranger all original/

I hope you enjoy the boat. What a great gift for you to remember them by. It's really nice and well cared for.
Liked the pics.
I have 2 of those merc 650's, one '74 model and the other a '75. I get good service out of them, although they're not the best merc ever built. Lots of guys here to help you get it purring if it's not already.

I have an older boat as well from my grandparents and its an awesome thing. However your grandparents either new what they were doing or spent the money. My grandpa and uncles perferrred to just get it done as cheap and as quick as possible. So I had to redo everything but it's very much worth it. Hell its the boat I learned to water ski on.

Also, depending on your height and fitness the convertible top can be a pain. I am 6'4" and i am in great shape but the top is so low when attempting to walk thru its not even funny. Its great for rain and trolling all day but a bimini would be nice to have as well. Congrats.

thanks guys, 75towerofpower, i am only 6'1" but a bigger build, its darn near impossible to climb through. a bimini would be great, but does it require any drilling or such? cause if it does, i wont be doing that

Yeah it would but you might actually be able to use some of the holes that the convertible top. You have the motor running on the muffs yet?
