where in the exhaust cover would put the tell tail ?

hi all i have 1977 55hp johnson and i want to put a tell tail on the old girl. i was told that you should put it on the exhaust cover, but i have no idea where to drill the hole. any help would be great.

You would have to locate a position where it connects with the water cooling passages. The higher the better probably as it will then help to vent air from the system.

You should consider telling us where you put it and how you did it, and maybe a photo for the benefit of others. I personally would like to see how you did it in case I run into the same scituation. Thanks, Ronnie

hi ronnie, as soon as i get a chance i will post some pics. i am taking my boat out tomorrow. i just had the head refaced and put it back together this arvo.
the tell tail works a treat pisses water out just like it should.
