I have a 89 115hp evinrude. It starts fine and runs fine without a load on, but in water it has no power and won't get above 10mph. Do I have a lower end problem or something else
I would start with the basics, spark and compression.
Post what you find, if you need help with these tests let us know.
Not likely a lower unit issue, short of possibly the hub in the prop being spun, in which case it would over rev when you advance the throttle, giving you no power.
Checked plugs, clean but wet. conpression running 115,110,115,110,1 through 4. I regaped plugs to.030. whats next? Anything will help.

No its not over revving. I was running back in at about 3500rpm after fishing all day and it just lost all it's power. Rpms droped to 2000 and speed to 10mph. If I run it in the shop it runs great, starts fine,idles at 250/300,powers up great but under load it just won't go.
