water fuel separator

I have searched, but have been unable to find a definitive answer.

Does every 4.3 Mercruiser engine have a fuel/water separator?

The specific boat in question is a 1993 Celebrity 180 with 4.3 Merc and Alpha 1.

If not, how difficult is it to add one?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...
You'd think it would be Standard Equipment, but I guess on some barges, it Ain't...
They can be mounted pretty much anywhere between the tank,+ fuelpump,...
Usually, but not always nearer the pump...
Cut the line, add the filter, All done...

Every boat really does need one.They are easy to install as Bondo said...

my boat did not came with one the first service I did to it was installing one on it very easy to do and important if you are putting gas with ethanol...
