On my '92 procraft I have a battery charger switch... This is my first boat and trying to learn when I should have these controls on and when to have them off.

Please help me to understand this switch and when I should be using it. The boat has 3 batteries is it cycling a current through all batteries? The switch is in a bunk where the trolling motor folds into...so it may only deal with the trolling motor.

Please help!!

Re: 92 ProCraft-Battery Charger Switch

Umm -- you gave us absolutely noting to go on. All we know is you have a switch and that it is mounted in a bunk. We need to know how many batteries you have, what they are used for (starting, troller, house, etc.,) and which ones are wired to the switch. Follow the wires. And by not telling us how the switch is labeled (switch positions) you force us to do the research. That said -- battery switches provide the operator with the option of determining which battery powers everything on the boat and which will be charged when the engine is running. OFF = everything on the boat is OFF (no power to anything). BAT 1 = Battery #1 is powering everything on the boat and is being charged when the engine is running. BAT #2 = Same as BAT #1 except for battery #2. BOTH = both batteries power everything and both are being charged. BAT #1 is typically the starting battery.
