I have a 1988 40 hp 3 cylinder outboard. There was a mishaps with the previous owner which the bearings on the piston rod that connects to the crankshaft overheated and somewhat froze. I am looking for some new bearings that I would be able to use. does anyone know where I would be able to find some. Searra does not have any that fit in there catalog.

What motor do you have? If the rod bearing wiped out the rod is probably shot too. Maybe the crank. Let me know and I'll help you find parts.

If it is a YAMAHA, it probably has the press together crankshaft with the one piece connecting rods. Might be too expensive to repair. Cost me a fortune, will never do it again. regards FRED

I think I am just going to part out the motor, the crank has the one peice conecting rods so it is going to be a lost cause. its OK because I dont even think I could of put the thing back together anyways. lol
