hello all ,

i just bought my first boat last week , is a 14' flat bottom and is made by montgomery ward and is a seaking model . it came with a 9.5 johnson . this is an old boat and either it didn't come with a weight and motor size tag or it was removed by the previous owner .
my question is does any one have an idea of the weight and persons capacity of this boat ?
it is 14'6" in lenght and is 48" across at the top . i dont plan on upping the motor size but i dont want to over load it . my plan is to use it for river fishing in the warmer months and to get me to a secret hunting spot in the fall .

any input would be appreciated .

i did find a link on here to the coast guard guide for boat builders and read through it but short of filling it with water... i was just hoping someone here had the info on this boat

Thanks in advance Scott

Found this on yahoo answers, sounds right

it's a Montgomery Ward/Sea King 14' V Hull boat. All the data tag gives me is a serial number, max 14 hp, 3 persons and not to exceed 600 lbs total.

The 600 include motor gear and fuel weights, average person weight considered is 150 pounds each

I'm form way up north in Goshen , ya the 600 includes the motor, you ad all gear.

You might want to play around with loading it, put the gas and battery up front to get it balanced alittle better, just play around with it and you will hit a nice balance.
