During starting, the starter disengages before it can fully get the flywheel going. Sometimes it won't engage at all & just spins. I just replaced the batteries 2 weeks ago & the starter/solenoid about 1year ago. Any thoughts? Oh & did try & jump the solonoid by going from the hot to the starter with a wire.

How does the teeth on the flywheel and starter look? Could be a bad bendix, also try crossing the posts on the solenoid just to be sure its not bad again.

Make sure the pinion gear runs freely up and down the starter motor shaft. If not clean and lightly lubricate.

If you are sure the battery is good and fully charged check all connections including the negative ground .. check means remove clean and refit!

Check solenoid as advised above

Symptoms are of discharged battery or poor connections!
