Johnson Seahorse - unknown HP. Model ED 14. Is it worth repairing?

Hi all,

I've just bought a boat with a Johnson Seahorse outboard thrown in and I'm unsure of the HP. The serial number is: 297233 and the model number is: ED 14. The previous owner tells me the engine isnt working - so i'll fix it - if it is worth it and if the HP is enough for the boat. All help greatly appreciated. Kindest,

You sure it's not a CD-14?
edit: 5.5 hp.

Or it could be a 1960 18HP, FD-14

I know of no ED model series.

On further checking I have established that it is indeed a FD 14 18 hphttp://forums.iboats.com/images/smilies/redface.gif. I am looking forward to getting it up and running .
