i recently got alot of info on this carb i even got an expanded diagram of carb so i can see all parts of carb my problem is my carb does not look like the ones i'm being shown for this motor they look similar but not the same the part i'm concerned about is the high speed jet for this year of carb it's right behind the drain plug of bowl i removed drain plug and there was nothing behind it is there suppose to be something there because the diagram that some one sent me shows a orfic plug but my carb had nothing just drain plug.

Also the drain plug was different than the ones shown everywhere my drain plug looks just like a bolt with flat head screwdriver slot the ones shown everywhere looks just like a bolt also but with a long shaft for a knob of some sort i'm totaly confused on what type of carb i got does anybody know if there is suppose to be something behind the drain plug no matter what type of carb it is or is there a carb that has nothing like mine
the number for carb is 327479(which was stamped on top of carb)
313355 D2 (which is stamped on the bottom of bowl)
the serial number for motor 18402D - E09634 everybody tells me thats a 1964 18hp but carb does not look the same and the ignition coils look different also
my coils look much later than 1964, the gas inlet on my carb enters from the bottom of bowl ones shown to me enter from side???
WOW WHAT DO I HAVE?????

On your previous post you said you had a 1964 model but did not include any model numbers. The drawing I sent you was for a model FD-18. I do not know what the differences between a 18402 and a FD-18 is. So far I have not been able to find a drawing of a 18402 (which is a 1964 Evinrude model) but will look and will post the link if I find one. Someone here will probably know though.

Motor pictured is an early 80's (probably '83) 25 or 35 hp........a far cry from a 1964 18

That motor looks like mine ...and mine is a 1983 ...right down to the carb..only mine is electric start so has the solenoid on it....so its late 70's early 80's....

look on the transom clamp on the side and see if there is a plate there with the model number...or a welch plug on the power pack side near the carb on the block..it has model number also...

The motor in your picture looks nothing like the 1964 motor I have.

Re: 1964 johnson seahorse 18hp carb

Ok..I just looked up the powerpack number..its a 1980's 25 hp...the part number has a 0 in front of it is all..your parts says 582452...OMC part is 0582452....all I did was look in the 1980 25 hp ...it could be a year later or 2 ...but its in the 80's any ways....HP may differ also since the packs may be used on different HP motors ...like a 35hp also....

A stolen motor.......because those mounting brackets look original to the motor in the pics and I'm kind of doubtful that an 18 hp from that era would interchange.

A dead give away on the year range is if there is a power pack or not.

The '64 would have a universal magneto, not a power pack.
