Type Quick!!! Before you're signed out!!!

Hello All....

It seems to me that iboats signs you off quicker than it used to. Sometimes when I'm signed in and start typing a reply to someone's post...by the time I hit the "SUBMIT" button...I'm already timed out and have to log in again.

Has the time that one stays logged in (without activity) decreased from what it used to be?

It's just a minor annoyance....no biggie.

Constantly getting the same thing. Never used to happen.

Happens to me sometimes.

If it happens, just hit your browser back button, and highlight all you just wrote. Right click on the highlighted text and select copy. Then log back in and go to where you were, and right click on the text area and select paste.

Control C and then control V works the same.

I've never been logged out by iboats. Just yesterday I stayed signed in while I went out for a few hours and was still signed in when I got back.

I took a break after I first joined because the refresh times were so long that I would get logged out between pages. It is much better now. No problems here.

If you don't click the remember me, and your cable company swaps modem address on you on the fly, it'll log out. Otherwise, probably not.

Flakey page loads, and this sort of thing all point to less than optimum dynamic addressing and DNS provision by the internet provider.

I looked up the DNS servers and manually configured them in my machine. It's much better.

I bet your using Firefox , on a other forum it happens to me ..but only with firefox and not on this forum ..

And only since i used firefox ..

be sure to click "remember me" or yes, it will sign you out before you can even search, or post...

also, if you clear your cache constantly, it will delete the cookie for iboats...

you may also have a program running that prevents cookies from being written (they get treated as spyware) and that can cause an issue too..

I haven't had to log back in here for uh.... man, 8, 9 months? since the last time I formatted this PC.... my cookie has stayed intact - and I visit almost every day.

I thought that if I did that; that I would automatically be logged on as "me"...a practice that I try to avoid on a computer that can be accessed by others.

I use IE8 at work and Google Chrome at home and have never been timed out at all.
It sounds like your ISP has the issue and not the site.

yeah, that is true, but if you're that concerned about a family member posting on the site udner your name, then click the logout button after you're done on the site...... then when you come back next time, click remember me - so you won't get booted while you're on the site, and then, logout again when done... hope your issue is resolved...

If your Iboats cookie got corrupted, it wont write correctly..

Clear the cookies for the browser you have, then re log in and check the "Remember me" box.

I too haven't had an issue.
