Constant alarm sounding

I have a 2005 Mercury 50 hp 2-stroke outboard. Put it in today cruised around 30-45 minutes, then beached it and took a dip. After about 2 hours, tried to crank it and the darn thing didn't want to idle, ie kept cutting off. I flooded it..; took another dip. Got it cranked, but as soon as you turn on the switch the alarm sounds and will not stop (Began before I got the engine cranked). I have had the boat for two years now and have never heard the alarm before today. The engine runs fine, is full of oil in the tank, and it has a strong stream of water coming out of the pee hole. HELP!

Thanks

Re: Constant alarm sounding

A continuous beep when ignition key is turned, when the engine is cold is either a faulty overheat sensor or a faulty warning module. You can try to disconnect the heat sensor with the key turned to see if it shuts off.
