Just got around to getting the boat ready for water for first time when i tried tilt/tirm and to my surprise it would not go up, i can hear motor running, i took off the lock bar,( my tilt trim has a middle piston for trim and 2 cylinders on either side for tilt, the motor/pump assembly is round and has all 4 tubes comming odd the bottom, 3 at 90 and one strait down off the bottom
), i've had the boat for 5 years and never had a issue, was working fine in the fall before putting in storage, now the trim works goes up and town but the tilt won't, i hear motor/pump but nothing happens, there is no visible leak and i have never seen any oil in that area, any thoughts ?

I havent checked oil as i'm still searching how to do this.

you need your valve body rebuilt or replaced. You may be able to find new ones listed here on iboats. The Chinese started making them sometime last year and they are now relatively easy to find. The quality may not be up to western standards but the price is cheap and they are pretty much the only game in town. For rebuild services, check Ebay.

Mine does the same thing so I adjust the tilt often as I am driving, it is not so bad as to knock me off plane and when WOT the pressure from the water helps stop the dropping, I've thought of replacing mine but I am going to wait until it goes out completely because of the cost of the replacement out weighs the issue right now.

Good luck if you go down the rebuilt/replace route this season.

your trim should stay at a more or less acceptably slow bleed down. it takes a lot more fluid for the trim to move 1" than tilt ( i think it is 10x?). Eventually tilt will bleed down so fast that getting your boat on and off the trailer becomes difficult.

Re: 125 1987 force tilt/trim

I launch in a area that is a little shallow and in the current, with rocks at the bottom , so i have my outboard all the way up and I have a 9.8 kicker ELR, that is attached with one of those kicker remouvable bars, so i need my engine to stay all the way up, also my driveway is a a good angle to the road and I have to lift the engine up a bit higher that the tow bar so i dont hit the pavement with the sceg while backing her up next to the garage, so it needs to work great for me.
