Next week I'll be going to Smyrna TN for tech training. Wanted to drive, but company says fly. I haven't flown since I was in the Navy in the 70's and the last plane I was on was a US-2B. Usually going out of town for training has never bothered me, but this time it is. Don't know if it is not being able to drive or the training for the whole week.

Hopefully while I'm gone the Mrs won't let my garden die off :D She doesn't have much of a green thumb. She bought some hanging baskets and is taking care of them. So far they went from having lots of flowers to just vegetation. :D Told her what to do, but,,,,,she is a bit bullheaded!

Oh well,,,,no fishing for a week, I think I can survive :D

Re: Jumping Ship

With this weather we've been having lately, hard to believe my garden is still standing...and my wife won't dead-head the hanging baskets, or maybe she just knows I will :(:D

Have a safe trip, maybe sneak in some shore fishing, if you can get a one day type license or not lol ;)

Re: Jumping Ship

Look at it this way, you spent many hours flying around in an old tin can with a pair of nine cylinder radial engines that burn about a gallon of 90 weight oil per hour and a bunch of very volitile, 115/145 octane fuel. Worse yet, you often landed on a rolling postage stamp, that passed as an airfield.

On your trip, you'll be in a nice modern jet with a pair of kerosene burners on it and pretty flight attendant, who will serve you peanuts and Coca Cola. The biggest danger that you will be subjected to, is what they will call an in-flight meal, which if you are lucky will be the peanuts and Coca Cola! You'll also land on a runway that will likely be at least 8 times as long, as the entire ship that you were based aboard.

Relax! Its going to be fun!

I hate to break it to you guys, but peanuts haven't been available on airplanes since the mid 90's when about half the population suddenly became violently allergic to them. You'll get a little bag of pretzels, if anything. I hate pretzels. Unless they're dipped in peanut butter.

Delta still does peanuts ... they give me a couple bags each flight, but they generally give a choice between pretzels, peanuts, and Biscoff Cookies.

Re: Jumping Ship

I know it will be a good trip (providing I don't screw up).

At least on the old US-2B you had the luxery of having a urnial horn at your seat :D No need to get up....

This tech school is just going to add another piece of equipment that I'll have to maintain. The McCafe machines are about to expire on the warranty and I've got to get certified on them. I know I'll do fine, but I'm already strapped on servicing other equipment. I also know that these machines are always breaking down which is going to zap more of my time.

Yep, I know quit my whining, but you can only do so much on your scheduled shift plus the hours taken from your personal time. My apprentice is finally picking up some of the simple jobs on his own. However he managed to hook up my vacuum pump to 208 volts vs 120. It ran real fast for about 20 seconds until the little man inside it let the smoke out :D

Korean Air......is like an all inclusive resort when travelling to the far east. Great food, slippers, free drinks, toothbrush and toothpaste, great attentive service, Personal TV in the seat in front with latest movies, theme shows, games etc. nothing is too much trouble !!! and that is in coach.
Guess who I now try to fly with ???:)

Burn a gallon of oil an hour, I think they leaked that much sitting. You could always tell where they were parked by the puddles :)
