I have a chance to get a 1980 16 foot Marquis Rivera for a decent price. All seems good. No soft spots, Transom looks good, Engine runs good, trailer is good shape. But I know little about fiberglass boats. I was looking for a tradtional fishing boat but the price is right and the guy is trustworthy. any opinions on these boats? Rick

If it is indeed solid....go for it. Open bow will be very fishable. That boat will haul a__ with that motor!

You sure that's a Riviera? Looks like a Catalina to me. I have the exact same boat. The Rivieras were inboard, vs the outboard Catalinas. As far as the boat, I think they're great. I'd double check the transom though. Mine looked solid when I got it, but upon further investigation it was shot. I'm in the process of restoring mine right now.

On a personal note, if you do get it, please post some interior pics. I need inspiration on what I'm going to do with mine. LOL
