85 85hp force no spark

I have replaced the stator and the rectifier and still have no spark on my 1985 85 hp force. I have no idea where to look next any help would be greatly appreciated as i am getting very tired of working on this motor

have you checked the fail safe switch ? the tether one.. its a 2 wire switch maybe remove the wires and twist together you may just have it in kill

i dont know which switch you are talking about are you talking about the kill switch on the dash if so mine is not hooked up at all never has been and it ran just fine until my stator fried

I had the same problem with my 85. I put in all new ignition parts accept the cdi boxs and gave up and took it to a force mechanic. He took me for $600 in labor because he could not find the problem and all he did was put in all my old parts and replaced the cdi box's. I would check the cdi boxes and if you give up like I did, ask if he knows force boats and tell them that if they cannot find the problem than 1 hr than you will not pay them for they do not know what they are doing.

Test the trigger. On my boat if the kill switch is open the motor will not even turn over so I don't think thats a problem.

At the motor, unplug the 2 black/yellow stripe wires from the singlre black on the volt reg..If it starts you have to plug them in to get her to shut off, you will then have a short to gnd...rewire a kill switch in directly from there..
