Best repair manual

Hi all,
New to this site and just bought a 1983 (I think) Mercury 25HP serial #6425529 and I want to start out right. Which repair manual so you suggest I buy.

This engine has been sitting a few years and I was told by the prior owner that it was winterized the last time it came out of the water. What would you suggest I do before I get it wet again or try starting it? I want to do it right so hit me with a list of what I should do.

My vote goes with the factory Service Manual. You'll pay more for it, but you'll be getting the info for that engine, not a set of related engines. Check eBay, you can often find a used copy of the factory manual for about the same price as a new Clymer or Seloc manual.

Check the FAQs and do a search and you will find lots of advice on waking a sleeping motor. That may be easier for you than waiting to get the information via this post. The below linked FAQ may be helpful.
