Hi, chaps, need some good advice.

I dropped the oil from my 1980 evinrude 60hp 2cyl
The result is a tub of white oil. I changed the oil ran in a barrel, same result see the pictures.

So i removed the propella and the rubber was squashed up in one side.

see pic below

I removed the lower unit for inspection.

the drive shaft seal was full of old mastic / sealant

that fell off.

The gearbox is not losing any oil and the gears work as they should.

Should I be concerned?
Should I replace the drive shaft seal or is it as it should be?
Should I replace water pump seals?

Any one got any advice.

Cheers Alan

It is definatley time for a reseal on the gear case and since you already havit off then you should invest in a new water pump as well. Water in the gearcase is a concern. Invest in a good factory manual and you should be able to do it your self.

Any ideas where I can get a seal kit from. I'm struggling to find a supplier on the internet.

Many thanks Alan

you should be able to get the seal kit right here on i-boats. Go to brp.com and look up the parts there right down the numbers then come back to i boats
