Hi!
I just was passed along a late 60's 4hp Evinrude lightwin from my father. We bought this motor used back in the early 70's. It sat in a storage locker for about 20 years. I've had our local marina go over it, and put about $300 into it, going through everything, and replacing anything that's rubber, etc.

It runs fine now. The question is, what should I look out for? Any special care to be taken to make it last? I remember the motor fondly from my youth, and was always surprised at what a beast it was for a 4hp. I want it to last.

Don't know what all was done to that motor but if they didn't replace the ignition coils they may be the weak link in a motor that old. Outside of that the little experience I had with them they were good little motors. Properly cared for it should last forever.
