carb adjustment

i have a 1980 mercruiser 120hp Galaxy. Does anyone know about the adjusting the carb mixture screws? its a 2bl sorry i dont have anymore imformation on it but if needed i can get. if i take the adjustment screws in all the way, about how many turns out to get me close to the right set point? on both of them please...

I believe the initial turn out is 1 1/4 turns. Be careful not to turn in too tight, just lightly seated. You may want to count how many you turn in as a refrence.

If you screw them in all the way the engine should stall, that is usually my first step, it indicates the carb is in working range.
After you've determined that, the rest is simple, screw them back out 2 or so turns, then slowly screw them in 1/4 turn increments until engine stumbles, your sweet spot is just prior to that. Adjust them evenly going back and forth.
