How do you mount the new tube with the small flange on both sides of the transom? I bought a new tube but it only has the flange on one side. How do they do it at the factory?

IIRC there is a flanging tool that you use to roll the unrolled side into a flange. If I were you, I would use a screw in garboard type drain. They are normally held in with three screws, so no special tools needed to replace

Re: Replacing drain plug tube

I have used the brass tube and swage tool. The local boat dealer loaned it to me. This was a hole for a smaller hole for the motor well drain. I removed the plastic gromet and pluged the hole witih a wood peg to form a base for the hole saw pilot. I epoxy primed the wood to seal and then mixed fumed silica to form a thin putty and coated the tube o.d. and the hole. It swaged in without a problem and looked like factory in just about 2 minutes.

Key to success are having the hole square with the transom and having enough clearance to form the swage and move the wrenches for the swage.

Key to success are having the hole square with the transom, cutting the excess tube square and to the right length, and having enough clearance to form the swage and move the wrenches for the swage.
