I got an 86 Bayliner Capri. We took it out to the river and one way or another the ladder come off the swim deck. The only thing I have left from it is one stainless steel tube.
The ladder pushes up under the swim deck and for whatever reason it must have came out while we were at WOT.
I checked the prices of new swim decks and ladders but without knowing exactly what brand mine is I don't want to have to try putting another one on and having to fill in the old holes and make new holes.
Any ideas on how to make a simple ladder that would do the same as before. Just want something to make through the remainder of the summer, after that the boat is going through a little restore project.

Re: Swim Ladder

I think you will find that a replacement ladder is still available and not terribly expensive. Most likely bayliner used an aftermarket ladder to begin with. I would start by going to the Bayliner Owners Club web site and register with their forums. I bet someone in their will know exactly the make a model ladder your boat used. I would also look at some under mount ladders made by Taylor or any of the major brand names. Allot of those sites have Boat make and model specific part lists. Those ladders are real common. I would be surprised if you cant find one.

Thanks, I didn't even think about the bayliner club. Been there several times looking up other things.

Thanks again.

Re: Swim Ladder

In 1986, the swim step was a white molded plastic piece with the fold up ladder. That was a custom made ladder for US Marine. Its even molded in the top if you look close. It was not sold under any other name. The only place that you can get parts is ebay or boat salvage/recyclers.

Well, just to be accurate, here is a pic of a 1985 swim step. This is the one I was referring to. If it is what you have, then used is the only market.

Thats not quite what I have but it is real close. Mine has 2 bars coming down from the boat down to the platform.

Re: Swim Ladder

Yeah, depending on the model boat, it might have two bars on top, or one top and one bottom. I have not seen two top and one bottom, but it might exist. The stainless tubing can be bought and bent easy enough, its finding the plastic platform with an intact ladder that is difficult.

These guys might have what you are looking for. Give them a call.

Also, do a search for "marine liquidators" and start calling around.
