Welcome to iboats.

The fuel oil ratio on that old Scott is 24:1........... 1 quart oil to 6 gallons gas

It doesn't sound like that little 3.6 is going to serve your needs for an everyday fishing motor if what you really want is a 10 or 15 HP.

And, you say that it's ugly so it doesn't sound like the sort of motor that would get you a lot of ooohs and aaahs at the dock; and maybe you wouldn't care if it did.

So; maybe you should sell it. Or you can keep it and clean it up and maybe it will be the start of a really cool outboard collection.

My dad had a 1947 7.5 HP Scott Atwater. That's it up there in my avatar. That was the model 473. I wish I still had that one; If I remember correctly it got sold for $12.00 back in the 1960's.

Old motors are interesting in various ways but they are not for everybody.

If you're going to sell it, take the time and effort to get it to someone who will do right by it. At one time it was someone's pride and joy.
