Hi does anyone know of a good site showing how to build and replace boat trailer bunks, ours have seen better days and I want to replace 2 and add 2 more as well.
Just wondering what type of wood to use.

thanks

Pressure treated wood and indoor/outdoor carpet/turf works great for me on my aluminum flatbottm. I recarpted existing bunks and added two new homemade bunks. Inspect the hardware on your existing bunks, replacing anything that's rusty. It saves removing them again later.

My other trailer was simuliar to yours. I added a 2" X 4" X 6' bunk on each of the rollers and side bunks, keeps the keel in the middle where it should be. Also extended the lights out of the water on poles about 4'. Makes it easier when backing down by your self or in the dark, and keeps the bulb and housing out of the water.
Then all I do now is back the trailer down until the side bunk was about 12" in the water and then drive on the trailer. Makes for less water in the ol shoe when loading. The lights and side bunks are in the pics below on my new boat.

Hey ya gotta remember we fish year round down on the Texas Gulf Coast and in the "cold" months, we gotta keep the ol tootsies dry!! LOL
The saltwater will eat the ol light bulb sockets up in about a month if the lights are not out of the water also.
The boat in the pics is a 1548 alum. and I drive it on the trailer with the side bunks.
Forgot, thats a good looking rig you have..

I LOVE my side bunks. I could load mine in my sleep.
