I was cruising along nicely on a foot or less seas at about 4000 rpm and suddenly my boat (not the engine) came to a stop. Motor still running at idle, rpm about 900 and my throttle is in the forward possition in gear. I put it into neutral, then put it into reverse and nothing happened I didn?t feel the engine go into gear but the engine roved up a little and I put it back to neutral. I repeated the same going into forward and the same happened I didn?t feel the engine go into gear but the engine revved up a little and I put it back to neutral. The propeller is not spinning because it doesn?t even move when the engine is in gear..
Any ideas? Can anyone help
Thank you

Check to see if you have a spun prop.
Did you here or feel any thing before hand ie rattles vibrations grinding?

You may have a spun propeller. That's when the bushing between the inner and outer sections of the propeller hub gives out. Normally that would happen because of striking something, but time and the heat of the exhaust can cause it.

Mark the propeller as shown in the thumbnail; if the line moves, you will need a prop shop to re-hub the propeller.

did your temp.go up,if so it would indicate a broken driveshaft,or stripped crankshaft. But it could be your shift pin fell out,its located under the bottom carb, also insure your cable is shifting the shift linkage,it could be a broken shift cable ,or a problem in the sxhifter

Finally found a mechanic. The drive shaft broke just below the water pump. She's going to replace the shaft and seals for $475.00
Thank you to you all...
