I recently purchased a holley carb for my engine. It came with a red wire for the choke. Do I need to wire this up? The old carb doesn't have one. 1988 305 V8, w/4 brl carb.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I suppose it has a heater element in the coil cap for the choke? I never used them I just adjusted the choke to wide open and left it like that. Just let the boat warm up a bit prior to moving.
But should you wire it up. It should go to a 12 volt keyed source for power.

Yeah,

I did the same with my 454.

I adjusted the automatic choke so that it is open all the time and disconnected it altogether. I don't boat in cold weather. I just let the engine warm up a bit and it's fine.

After it's been run during the day it's just not a problem.

Rick
