Open the "down" hydraulic line a bit at the pump, and the motor will slowly settle, as the oil shoots out.

This is something I also need to do Saturday. Which line is the Down line?

Smaller since it requires less PSI and volume.

Looks like the smaller line is crimped off. Could that be your problem?

Do you see that "Knob" above the line that looks like it has a visegrip on it? That is the manual overide. Turn the know one way or the other (Not sure which way) to operate the tilt manually.

I've tried the knob. It did not make a difference.

I thought it might be, but it was (as I was informed) working with the line crimped as you see it. I am going to replace the unit and lines once the boat is finished. May have to do it sooner than later ...

:confused::confused::confused:

Quite wrong. The small line is the UP line. The reason the DOWN line is larger is to reduce the back pressure when the system is running the high pressure UP circuit.

Sorry, Gordon. Don't mean to hijack your thread.

The system could not possibly work with that line crimped off. It's a closed system, when one side is being pressurised, the oil in the other side must flow back to the pump reservoir... Crimp a line and it will not work in either direction........

That knob is the reverse lock release. It only allows the motor to be raised by releasing the back-check valve. The system needs to be de-pressurized. Usually taking the lines loose will do it. I have the same system and thats how mine works.
