'74 Mercruiser 225 hp 305 (Ford Engine), Dam thing keeps overheating. Replaced T-stat and impellor, also checked the belt (was loose) tightened and still no difference. After t-stat changed it prolonged the overheating by like 5 minutes, the old t-stat was rusted and had a lot of debris stuck within the springs. (I thought this was the fix, but no). When engine is running the intake house I thought should be harder to squeeze with H2o coming in but its kind of easy to pinch. Could it be a bad sensor? I researched a little and is it hard to clean out the manifolds/ risers? How would I be able to flush the system with out screwing anything up? Please help in desperate need of throwing more money into a hole (that seems to get bigger every year) thats in my backyard.

Re: Mercruiser Overheating

Ford never made a 305, Chevy did. Ford has the 302. A '74 is probably gonna have some good corrosion in the cooling system.
