I have a 1989 Bayliner with a 2.3L Ford. Mechanical fuel pump and rebuilt carb. It idles and revs fine in the driveway, however when I put in in the water and open the throttle it has no power. I can't get above 1000 rpms. Any suggestions?
I got the same problem with mine. I'm getting ready to change filter and maybe try to run it on a different fuel tank and see what happens. Checked my fuel filter and found ethonal junk in it. Pulled the fuel guage unit from the tank and took a peak and the bottom of the tank was brown with the same junk. Slowly working my way through it. Think the ethenol junk is making it run that way or at least i'm hoping. Also was told to check the points for corrosion which I have yet to do. Frustrating to say the least. Bought the boat and it ran good for the first 10 minutes and I've been dealing with this ever since. Pour the fuel water seperator filter in a jar and see what's in there. This is what mine looked like. If ya find out anything or i find out anything I'll let ya know.
