oil seal in uppper unit driveshaft reciever..need to identify

i was reinstalling my lower unit (alpha 1 gen 1) after replacing the impeller. I reach into the upper unit with my finger to feel around making sure the drive shaft reciever was clear. i noticed a seal that was lose. when i pulled it out it was pretty damage and it had a coil spring that was beat up. I can't find it on any diagram. It appears to be some type of oil seal.
