I bought a boat three yars ago and I have been dealing with the same problem ever since. The problem is it is really stubborn to start when the engine is at temp (175). It starts like a charm whenever it's cold. Either way once it is running I never had a problem. It will start up again up to ten minutes after I shut it off, anything after 10 minutes it'll just turn over for ever before eventually starting to sputtering and then start after about 30 seconds of turning it over. The dealer has done just about everything that you can imagine including fuel pressure regulator, injectors, plain my manifold in case water was getting in and getting moiter on the plugs, fuel pump, plugs, coil, iac sensor and more. Now finally this time they did a leakdown test and they seem convinced I'm loosing pressure in a couple of cylinders so they (Dealer & Mercruiser) believe because of this loss of pressure that ther computer is sending the wrong signal for vacuum and the engine is hard to start warm. The engine does not smoke burn oil or otherwise.

Does anyone have any ideas if we are going in the right direction?

throttle positioning sensor, maybe ? Sounds like your mechanic likes to replace parts?

I pretty sure my dealer is doing everything in good faith since they have been working with an engineer at Mercruiser and after doing everything by process of elimination I have complete faith in them. This has been very hard to diagnose and further more they are not charging me for everything they have done so far......
