Does anyone care to speculate why there are more starcraft Ilanders for sale in the US than Chieftains, Offshore v's, Holidays, Supersports and Jupiters combined on craigs list and ebay?

Re: Starcraft Question

My guess is tight economy and desire to downsize fo more economy of operation

Re: Starcraft Question

I haven't counted or anything but I sure see a lot of Holidays and SS (mostly in the 18' range) for sale in my neck of the woods. Islanders, Chieftains and Jups surely in the mix too.

They one I am looking for is quite rare though...

Must be a Starcraft, 16' open bow, with a trailer, condition makes no difference, free or nearly free:D

Re: Starcraft Question

I believe its the economy and Americas new way of life. While you can fish out of any of the boats, the Islander is built more for cruising and staying on water overnight. Camping and such is becoming a lost art. People are too spoiled. We would rather just take a day on the water, then go home.
BUT NOT those in the Starmada:D Heck some of us live in the boat before we even splash it;)
Our devotion is true
so we say it again,
others like fiberglass,
We stick to Tin:D

Re: Starcraft Question

Many of the Islanders I see here in Michigan(which is ALOT) are OMC I/O's that nobody wants to mess with, being that parts and mechanics are hard to find.

These sit on the market for quite some time, giving the perception that there are tons of them available.

I see more Holidays and Supersports than anything else. The 18-22' Offshore V SS models are the most rare.

damn, did my dogs rat me out AGAIN???? my lawyer said not to make any admissions, but i do highly recommend making up a center bunk section so you don't wake up in the morning sore from your body trying to bend to follow curve of hull & v-berth. ;)

Heh! I was thinking about doing exactly that last night! Guess I better actually do it.

Re: Starcraft Question

Meant to stay on my Islander last night but got out of town way too late to bother the guy at the small marina I launch from to camp at Beausoleil Island on Georgian Bay

So I pulled over in an out of the way place and slept in her at the side of the road while still on the trailer. Tee Hee

Re: Starcraft Question

I am not sure what you mean sleeping with the curve. Mine has 3 alum. pipes that go between the seats, the backs of the seats sit on the 3 alum. tubes and I have essentially a queen size bed in the front. Alothough the wife and I have to play footsy since our feet are in the bow.

Re: Starcraft Question

i'll have to look into that....don't think my seat backs will work that way. i have 2 alum tubes but thought they were for supporting the combo hatch/dining table.....one drops into a bracket mounted at front of "V" and the holes on their brackets line up with the threaded inserts on table.
