Re: 90 hp Chrysler Outboard

What's a 1976 90 hp Chrysler outboard worth?

Kinda a loaded question, with a simple response. Its worth what ever someone will pay for it. Is it running? Is it in pieces?

Its probably most valuable being parted out. Chrysler got out of the outboard game years ago, so 95% of the people out there aren't going to be willing to throw up big money to power their boat with an engine that has parts that are NLA.

It's running great, and all three cylinders are with in 3 % from the compression test. New starter, alternator and tilt and trim pump. I have it sitting on a stand and am working on redecking and putting a transom in the boat. Just wanted to see what I could get for it if I wanted to sell it.

If it is running well and looks good too, you MIGHT be able to get 700-1000 from someone who needs to repower and wants a Chrysler. You might be able to get this over at The Chrysler Crew, Chrysler marine website. In reality, that will almost never happen. You would be lucky to get 500.

If you part it out, the lower unit, tilt/trim (if it has one and if it is working), ignition, carbs, block, and flywheel will fetch more than the running engine. Props are getting scarce for that 2 piece lower unit and the prop alone--again, if it is in good condition should fetch about 50 bucks. Distributor, if it is electronic also is a pricey item.
