Welcome! Nice rig. Definitely worth fixing up. Everything you need to know will have been done already so ask away. Might want to consider some larger wheels.tires for that trailer.

Hello and welcome. I am in the same boat har har as you. I am a newbie with first boat and first restore with lots of questions also. I have been reading all of the restoration threads as they have tons of info and can keep you from making some of the mistakes they have made and save you lots of cash. they also have some great ideas I would have never thought of.:D one of my favorite ideas is using pool noodles for replacement floatation cheap and looks great to LOL. so good luck with your project

so after many hours of dealing with rusted screws we finally got the top off and started demo on the floor which was just rotten to **** we also found a lovely spot on the bow we have to patch. here are some pics o and the stringers are rotten ofcourse. we can tell some one else already did an overhaul on the boat but didn't do it properly the first time.

Re: newbie restoring 1974 starcraft capri

so we did some work today didn't do much because it started to rain again. we got the stringers cut out and some of the grinding done next on the agenda is to get the transom out and then it is on to fiberglassing. which brings up a couple questions. i have been looking in the forums about what the best glass would be to put the transom back in i was thinking csm and 24oz biax with some peanut butter would that be alright?(the same way oops did his) i was just wondering with the peanut butter is it used as a glue on the whole transom or just to fillet the side? now for the floor should i glass it with a layer of mat then 24oz biax and then a layer of veil would that be enough or would i need more also i heard mixed messages about using epoxy or poly on the floor which does everyone prefer?

How did it turn out? It looks like you really dug into that boat. I just bought the same boat a few days ago, its great but needs minor things done to it.
