A co worker of my wife got a scam email. He played along.

They sent him a check for 1000 bucks. He was suppose to convert it to a US cashiers check and send it back, taking 15%.

He cashed the money he got and kept it... So far nothings happened... It's been a couple of months since. I told him he's gonna get some angry Nigerian warlord knocking at his door some day.

They sent him a check for 1000 bucks. He was suppose to convert it to a US cashiers check and send it back, taking 15%.

Cash 5000 dollar check, send 4250 back, keep 750 750 "profit"
Total profit 1200 bucks.
Bank returns 5000 dollar check

I told him not to cash it, send it to the PD.
But he went hog wild with the 1000. I dont know how long it would take. But I told him to watch out for the 1000 check to come back as NFS.

Most of the checks are bogus so tell him to keep a close eye on his account.

Just like the e-bay scheme.....they win your auction, they send you a money order with extr***** and the extra is to pay their guy to transport the item.

The money order is fake and your acount will be a mess before long.

The check was probably "good".

The account and routing numbers, printed on the fake check, were probably stolen, from a trusting old lady in Indiana.

Good site, with good information, but IMO, fighting them, playing along to "waste their time and resources", is in reality, wasting only our time. Thousands of them do this for a for a living, so they will bail if they suspect, a non-rube, is on the other end.

Also, the Nigerians scammers, have worker in this country, so a personal visit is a posibility. Don't really want them knocking at the front door.

If everybody just kept hitting the "delete" key, these scams would stop this afternoon.
