got a stupid question on john boats why is there foam underneath the seats? and what could i do to make my boat more byoant without reducing weight?
I'm guessing the foam is there so that if the boat is swamped, it won't sink.
As far as making the boat more buoyant, you can't, unless you to something outside of the hull (balloons, Styrofoam, pontoons, etc., and yes, I'm serious). The laws of physics prevent anything done on the inside of the hull aid in its buoyancy. The shape/design of the hull is what makes it buoyant.
Boats weigh less than the water they displace.
