Not sure what they're called but my trailer had fabirc covered wooden 'steps' at each corner. They're really not functional just kinda looked nice, but now they've rotted away to wood heaven. I don't want to replace them with wood but not doing something makes the trailer look like a bare frame and I think it protects the rear outermost marker lamps.

How about some of the "trex lumber". Expensive but it will probably outlast the frame.

Thought about that but I don't have the tools to cut it.

At the Menards close to us they have seconds/returns/stockouts of the Trex Type Material in the yard - outside of the building. You can ask the contractor desk people what they have. The prices are about half of new and you would not need a whole lot to rebuild the steps.

Just a suggestion.

If you change your mind about wood read up on Brazilian ipe. It is beautifull and lasts forever even in marine applications. That is what they used on the board walk in Atlantic city.

Check with the trailer mfg. My Eagle trailer has the same rotted wood issue. They no longer sell wood-based replacements, but do offer them in diamond plate, around $35ea.

Re: Replace with what?

You can cut the Diamond plate with a cheap jig-saw or even a circular saw and carbide tipped blade. Common tools most home-owners have or can borrow from a friend or neighbor. File the edges and install with stainless bolts available at HD or Lowes. I actually find Lowes has a better selection of stainless fasteners
