Hello folks I am in the midst of purchasing an aluminum utility boat and the dealer wants to sell me an engine built by a company called APS. Has anyone heard of this manufacturere before? I am hesitant to close the deal even though he has tried to assure me it is a Yammy clone. What are your thoughts and experiences. I don't want to make a mistake and wish I'd spent the extra money and gone Merc.

Don't quote me on this but I believe it is chinese made and associated with Parsun outboards. Also, it is a Yamaha copy.

Has the Dealer assured that all parts interchange with a Yamaha?
I know nothing about APS but if someone gave me one I would put it on Craigs list
and put the money toward a real motor.I lean toward an Evinrude Etec.

Re: APS outboard motors

The APS Outboard is one of the best kept secrets out there. The guys on all the forums and blogs I've read don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. There is a new website out there call apsoutboards.com. Email the guy that runs it at apsoutboards@hughes.net if you need to talk to a genie. I'm sure he will get back to you. This guy knows more about them than anyone else in the United States, Canada, and the engineering group at the manufacturing facility in China.
