I have a 1994 Volvo Penta 230 with the volvo outdrive it is in a 1994 glastron. My trim will go all the way down and back up just a little like i guess it is suppose to. When i press the tilt button the only thing happens is the relay click"s i changed the relay and still just clicking. their is two relays at the trim pump that works the trim.Their is one under the dash that clicks when i press the tilt button. What the hell....................................Any suggestions what can i look for or try to fix this problem. thanks...

You may have to hit the tilt (aka over-ride button) and the trim up button to get the drive to tilt all the way up.

Re: 1994 Volvo Penta 230 tilt problem

I just finished working my Volvo Penta relays then got them working took to lake found a trim cylinder was leaking ,fixed that and now I am good to go, Chances are the dash relays were good, I had bad ones in back by the motor, What Kind of relays did U get? Because I tried relays from napa like this boat forum said and I found out they created another problem with A 55 amp fuse blowing that also may be your problem now, I Learned not to nickle and Dime the Volvo Penta. pay for the original part or be sure you are getting generic same as.

My relays seem to be good in the back because if i take one of them out the trim does not work. i also swaped the relays around and still just clicking from the relay under the dash.

Thanks Don S. You were right, I had to hold the trim up and the tilt up for the motor to lift.
