According to that story, they not only eat their own, they lie.

And if we're worried about the Supremes, what the heck are the repubs doing about that horrific case from the east coast whereby those people's homes were taken from them and given to a private developer. How could that not be at least as pressing of a court issue as abortion? I don't see or hear any repubs pushing to have the court's balance changed around THAT issue. No, it's all about other people's sex lives instead (ie abortion).

Woodrat,

A case actually has to be filed for the supreme court to hear it. Perhaps there is, perhaps there isn't, but either way any court pressured by the legislature to do what the legislature could do themselves would be a joke. The legislature could change the law to address just this oversight. And I believe that Sandra Day O'Conner was the swing vote on that issue. It seems they are working as fast as they can to rectify the situation. Well at least some of them are...

oh, well if we're waiting for Congress to fix that, then we can just kiss it goodbye...

And I wasn't so much talking about actually having that awful ruling overturned, so much as trying to say that there are an awful lot more pressing issues around the court than abortion and I think the repubs are just as guilty of obsessing about that as the dems are. They are pandering to the fringe of their party with that issue, trying to keep their support base together, and so are the dems.

no, no, don't worry about that!

And for what it's worth, no matter what I might have thought of his politics, it did seem to me like Roberts was reasonably well-qualified. That's what made the whole Miers thing so surprising and ridiculous. "President of the Dallas Bar Association..." Yeah, and I was an assistant scoutmaster once, and president of my vocational club in High school, too....

Edwards Not Asked About $16 Mil Investment in Katrina Foreclosures

August 20, 2007
CNN: Edards linked to subprime foreclosures :)

Stephanopoulos says, "This is basically a yes-no question. We've seen all this turmoil in the markets over the last couple of weeks caused by the credit crunch and the crisis in the mortgage markets. We saw on Friday the Federal Reserve lowered the discount rate for banks. Should they lower rates or everybody else, yes or no?"

DODD: Yes, I think it will happen in September. But we also need more liquidity, and they ought to be allowing Fannie and Freddie Mac to put more liquidity in the market.

EDWARDS: I -- I -- I agree with that. But we also need a home rescue fund for all the millions of Americans who are worried about losing their homes.

GRAVEL: All I would say is that there's no answer to that question. Just follow the money of the people on this dais and you'll see a response.

What's interesting to you about this? Does something strike you about this question and the answers? Does it ring your bell that nobody asked John Edwards about his $16 million dollar investment in Fortress Financial which foreclosed on 34 or 38 New Orleanians -- which is where he announced his campaign, where he had the poverty tour? If Mitt Romney had invested $16 million in a company foreclosing on the homes of Katrina victims, do you think he'd get asked about it? Damn right he would! Stephanopoulos didn't bring it up. Neither did any of the candidates. But I just did.
Oh no, of course there is no bias in the drive by media!!!!

CQ: Edwards, an empty suit

I agree with ya 12er, he, (Edwards) will likely not survive. His classic claim to not know if Cuber's health care system is run by the Gubmint and similar slips with $1200 hair cuts paid for by his campaign with funds from dim wits who support him et al will cost him.

Now the Hildebeast is another story. I do fear her. what is scarier? She has an actual CHANCE!

I agree (to a point) again: 12er. That said: I want Hillary to win the primaries (as looks likely now), but their is plently of time fer a few surprizes. She will be easier to beat then any other dim wit Dem except Gravel or Kucinich, maybe a few others. If it were down to me, (and my vote would actually be the difference) and there were only two choices: the "Queen of Mean" or the "Breck Girl" , (no Repub), I would choose the Queen.

A souless hired gun trial lawyer that will persuasively vote to send our soldiers to die n' OUR Great Beloved Country to war in Iraq then appologise n' just as persuasively embrace defeat fer personal political gain leaves me cold. N' believe me: I'm no fan of Hillary, n' think she is very beatable due to most Americans knowin' just how nasty she is, (dim wit Dems know too). As Bro Haut says: she would likely be very nasty to the Saracens as well.

My $.02 JR
