think i need a coil????

got a merc 3.0L idels fine when i go to take off it sputters and almost dies i cleaned all fuel lines and carb and filters was ideling at the dock and taped the coil and she died please help........thanks

I really doubt its the coil...sounds fuel related.

Did you clean the filters or replace the filters?

How old is the gas?

Often good idea to run on a prtable tank to get the tank out of the equation.

the boat ran fine all week end then i was taking off from the dock it fell on its face felt like a miss fire is their a resister wire on the coil... have all new gas and yes all filters are clean... why would it die when i tap the coil//????

I missed that part.

Are all your connections at the coil good? You could be one of the few that actually has a bad coil.

i put the new coil in and it started right up ... going to take it out for a rip talk to you soon......

ya all good just a coil getting 55mph at 4500rpm im happy thanks from shuswap lake B.C Canada..... EA LIFE IS GOOD DAM GOOD...~
