I am starting to have a couple issues with my Force. I bought this boat this year and did as much PM as I thought, but I am still encountering problems.

1st - The O/B only seems to want to start in the trimmed up position, and with the throttle open in neutral. I thought it was a ground issue, so I clean all the grounds that I could find in the motor and it worked for about 2-3weeks and the problem came back. VERY FRUSTRATING.

2nd - It's a 75HP attached to a 16' Bayliner Capri 1600LS. I have 4 different props varying from 13 to 17 pitch. It doesn't matter a whole lot on the pitch size, but I am only getting 26-28mph GPS on a good day. Thats with just me in the boat! I thought this thing would be able to push my little boat a little faster...maybe I just need someone to tell me that's all I can expect.

Quick list of maintenance that I preformed so far:impeller, fuel lines, bulb, fuel pump diaphragms, new plugs, cleaned grounds. Am I missing anything??

Is there a way to get a little more out of the engine. I'd be happy if she broke 30mph.

Thanks in advance guys, and I am looking for ANY advice that's out there.

Thanks again, and Safe Boating to all.

Do a decarb as your regular maintenance.

Are you using the choke when starting?

STARTING PROCEDURE:

There is no conventional choke on that motor.
There is a fuel enrichment valve, that releases fuel directly into the intake manifold.

Open fuel tank vent

Check the kill switch, place in "run" position

Squeeze fuel primer bulb till firm.

Advance the throttle 3/4 way, without putting it in gear. -- This is done by either pushing a button in the center of the controls, or pulling the shift handle toward the driver, or raising the fast idle lever, all depending on what control unit you have.

Activate the choke (fuel enrichment valve) by pushing in on the key. The valve is only open while the key is being pushed in.

Turn the key to start while continuing to hold the key in.

Release the key and choke when it starts.

3-5 seconds of "choke", is usually enough.

Be ready to pull the throttle back toward the idle/neutral position, when the engine starts and the revs increase.

Continue to pull the throttle back as the engine warms up.

You should not have to use the choke much, if at all, once the engine has warmed up.

Engine should start within 10 seconds of turning the key.

Do a comp/spark test.Does it have a tach?Get something to measure the RPM and if the comp/spark are ok then start and test in the water for wot. Then we'll work on props.J

Remember the boat needs to have adj screw on carb like one turn out from a lightly seated position. 7/8s might be your final adj going by manual. Over oiled is better than not enough. Are you mixing gas and oil in tank
