Let's broaden our definition of buffoon. From dictionary dot com -

buf·foon
n.
1. A clown; a jester: a court buffoon.
2. A person given to clowning and joking.
3. A ludicrous or bumbling person; a fool.

Clearly, Ted Kennedy can be described by definiton number 3.

lol @ #3 I'm reading carefully . . . #1 "Well now that's not really it", then #2 "no, not quite that either". Then "bwahahahahahahah!!!" :D

To what end is this silly pol,
besides calling the political role,
the results of which you already know.

Good question, Boatbuoy. It's as much about perceptions as it is reality. Now that the sample size has reached a point of sufficiency, the results will be used, like all internet poll results, by the media to control every aspect of your daily life.

As an added bonus, I get to see how well I can predict the opinions of Dockside Chatters.

You may have noticed, I cleverly included Nagin and JFK as controls; now we can be reasonably certain that between 2 and 3 (inclusive) people answered all the questions contrarily.

Here's my analysis after 26 votes:

* Dan Quayle and both Clintons get more respect (measured as "no" votes) than I anticipated; Dan and Bill by wide margins, even after considering the contrarians.

* Tom Delay and LBJ got more Yes's than I thought they would.

* 19% of respondents couldn't identify Nagin - now that is a surprise.

* Someone doesn't know Arnold...WTF?

* 73% of respondents know who their representative is - that's impressive. At least I'll bet it beats the national average.

* I expected senators to get more respect (No's) than representatives, but on average they were equal.

* The whole "Your senator/Your other senator" thing was pretty stupid. Or at least poorly executed.

* I'm surprised that a majority of respondents who can identify their congressman/senators think they (the politicians, not the iboaters) aren't buffoons. Wish I asked about the collective senate and house.

* Four people don't know their governor...maybe non-U.S. iboaters?

* Here's the most surprising: only 61% think that more than half of all local politicians are buffoons!

Ya know . . . I think you would be surprised how I voted. For example, I generally agree with Dan Quayle's politics, but I voted for him as a buffoon. He was at one time buffoonish :D He earned it. The opposite for Bill Clinton; not a buffoon in my book. He tried hard, but that guy is too slick to be labeled a buffoon . . .
